2025 Program Eligibility Requirements
Currently, the Society is only able to take on clients who meet the following criteria, due to limited capacity and wanting to ensure the safety and success of clients.
Applicants must:
- Have the physical ability to independently handle a horse
- Not having been diagnosed with severe mental health or psychiatric disorder (e.g. borderline personality disorder) or actively suicidal
- If experiencing mental health concerns, these do not exceed what would reasonably be considered mild – moderate (e.g. anxiety, depression, situational stress, etc.)
- Agree to sign waiver detailing risk, and absolving the society and any related parties or landowner of any liability for injuries resulting from being on the property or engaging in any and all equine activities
- Agree to sign waiver agreeing to Society policies regarding program participation, i.e. Society’s right to refuse service at any point (abuse of animals or disregard of directions or damage to property leads to immediate cessation of program participation.

- This program runs on goodwill, please be honest. Horses are expensive and we hope to continue to help people in the future.

*We would love to include everyone and hope to expand the program to be able to include more people with diverse abilities. Currently to ensure the safety of participants, we must restrict participation in mounted activities; however, individuals with physical/mental restrictions may still be able to participate in unmounted activities. Please ask if this is the case, we will do our best to accommodate you.
